About the Role
The Research & Development team at Oxygen8 is a growing, fast-moving group of multidisciplinary problem-solvers. Think of us as the Swiss Army knives of the company: versatile, agile, and focused on tackling the most complex and impactful challenges. As an R&D Engineer*, you will play a key role in bringing new technologies to life and ensuring the performance and reliability of our next-generation HVAC systems.
In this role, you’ll gain deep expertise in Oxygen8’s products, lead the design, fabrication and commissioning of custom test apparatuses, and contribute directly to innovative projects that shape the future of sustainable building technology. You’ll collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams to validate ideas, solve technical challenges, and help bring products from concept to launch. This is a hands-on, high-impact position ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, experimental environment and wants to make a tangible difference in people’s health and the planet’s sustainability.
*Please note, in accordance with EGBC, a successful candidate must be a licensed Professional Engineer in BC to use the title ‘Engineer’.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and refine custom test setups for R&D and product validation.
- Conduct performance, reliability, and regulatory tests on HVAC components and systems.
- Fabricate custom parts, fixtures, and test equipment as needed (fabrication, wiring, plumbing, etc.).
- Record, analyze, and interpret test results to support product development and improvement.
- Prepare clear and thorough test reports and documentation.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Product Development teams to drive design decisions based on test data.
- Continuously improve testing processes and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Participate in customer site visits or virtual meetings to discuss technical results or field performance.
- Seek out, investigate, and propose innovative ideas to influence our product roadmap and support continued company growth and industry thought leadership.
- Ensure safety procedures and lab best practices are always followed.
Experience and Skills
- Post-Secondary Studies in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Building Sciences or similar field of study.
- 2-5+ years of prior experience in a Research and Development and/or HVAC environment.
- Knowledge and experience with HVAC equipment.
- Experience with 3D CAD Modelling (SolidWorks preferred).
- Experience with Control systems and Data Acquisition design (PLCs, Microcontrollers, analog and digital sensors, etc.).
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DoE) is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment in a hands-on position.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and documentation practices is an asset.
- Excellent ability to multitask and work efficiently within deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and highly organized.
- Machine Shop and manual fabrication experience is an asset.

Annual Salary:
- $70,000 - $85,000 based on experience.
Location and Schedule:
- Permanent full-time
- On site 40 hours per week at our Vancouver office at 1575 Vernon Drive, Vancouver BC, V6A 3P8
- Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm (TBD)

$70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
