About the Role


The Technical Support Engineer is responsible for product technical support and startup/commissioning support of ERVs (Enthalpy Recovery Ventilator) and DOAS’s (Dedicated Outdoor Air System) in North America. This position requires to work closely with both production and customers. The Technical Support Engineer is under the responsibility of the Technical Support Manager.

Responsibilities


  • Owns and maintains the commissioning/start-up ticketing system 
  • Acts as liaison between customers and sales, production & applications teams 
  • Utilizes a variety of resources to remotely determine the root cause of electrical and mechanical issues 
  • Schedules and coordinates the commissioning of the unit 
  • Ensures that equipment on site works conforming to its specification 
  • Performs on-call technical support for customers, and take actions when required 
  • Investigates problems, diagnoses, and repairs faults 
  • Maintains detailed logs and documentation of every job performed 
  • Creates comprehensive training material for startups and commissioning of Oxygen8’s equipment 
  • Provides formal training to representatives and technicians 
  • Maintains an understanding of Building Automation Systems and Intelligent Operation of HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning) Equipment 
  • Ensures safe working conditions 
  • As a SME (Subject Matter Expert), create and document standard operating procedures, and ensures all documentation is accurate and up to date 
  • Participates in new product introductory to sales teams and customers 

Skills


  • Exposure to PLC and HMI operation and programming 
  • Strong understanding of electrical circuits and components 
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams and to troubleshoot control panels 
  • Knowledge of ECM motors, sensors, and communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, Ethernet) 
  • Ability to multitask and work well under pressure 
  • Must be able to travel to the US and within Canada on short notice 
  • Up to 20% travel required 
  • Willingness to be on call when needed 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized 
  • Team player with positive attitude, excellent interpersonal skills 
 

Experience


  • Bachelor or Diploma in Electrical/Computer Engineering/HVAC Technology 
  • 3+ years’ experience in Commissioning, controls testing, and building automation 
  • HVAC equipment knowledge will be an asset

Annual Salary: 
  • $65,000 to $85,000 based on experience

Location and Schedule: 
  • Hybrid work schedule (TBD), based out of our Vancouver office (1575 Vernon Drive, Vancouver, BC)

Compensation

$65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
