About the Role

The Manufacturing Cost Accountant plays a key role in supporting the accuracy and integrity of product costing, inventory valuation and financial reporting within Oxygen8’s manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Controller, this role partners closely with Accounting, Purchasing, Inventory, and Operations teams to ensure costs are properly captured, analyzed, and reported.

This position is well suited for an intermediate-level accounting professional with a strong foundation in cost accounting and manufacturing finance, who is comfortable working independently, supporting financial reporting, and contributing to process improvements as the business scales.

This position is based out of our production facility office in Burnaby, BC, with a potential hybrid option.

Key Responsibilities


Cost Accounting & Inventory
  • Maintain and analyze product costs, including material, labour, and overhead absorption
  • Support inventory accounting, including valuation, reconciliation, and variance analysis
  • Monitor and analyze cost variances (standard vs. actual), investigating root causes and partnering with Operations on corrective actions
  • Support bill of materials (BOM) accuracy, cost roll-ups, and changes within the ERP system
  • Collaborate with Purchasing and Operations to ensure accurate cost capture and alignment with manufacturing processes

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
  • Support financial reporting activities, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and analysis
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close, including inventory, WIP, and COGS-related journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare and review balance sheet and income statement reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounts
  • Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries

Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Identify opportunities to improve costing methodologies, controls, and accounting processes
  • Support ERP system enhancements and data integrity related to costing and inventory
  • Maintain and update costing and inventory-related accounting documentation

Cross-functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to support cost visibility and informed decision-making
  • Provide ad hoc cost analysis and financial insights to support operational and business initiatives

Experience and Skills 

  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, overhead and standard costing 
  • Experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliations and month-end close
  • Proficiency in MS Office and advanced Excel skills 
  • ERP system experience is required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail

 About You

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • CPA considered an asset
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business Administration
  • Ability to work independently while meeting tight reporting deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism

Compensation:
  • Total Compensation: $70,000 - $95,000

Location:
  • Onsite at our head office location at 5085 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, BC, V5J 0J2
  • Occasionally, may be required to visit our other facility at 1575 Vernon Drive, Vancouver, BC V6A 3P8 
  • Hybrid work may be considered after 3 months

Compensation

$70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
