About the Role
The successful candidate will be an experienced and detail-oriented team member who contributes strongly to our manufacturing operations and is trusted by their peers. This is an opportunity to advance your skills in Amada CNC programming for both laser cutting and press brake forming.
- In the near term (first 30 days), this person will support programming and optimization for Amada equipment, while splitting their time between current duties and programming work.
- In the longer term (30+ days), as programming needs continue to expand, the proportion of time spent on laser and brake press programming will increase, while time spent on current responsibilities will decrease.
- Business and operational needs will determine the exact pace of this transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain Amada CNC programs for laser cutting and press brake forming
- Use Amada software (VPSS 4i, Dr. Abe Bend/Blank) to create nests, bend programs, and setup sheets
- Read and interpret CAD drawings, engineering documentation, and traveler reports
- Support machine operators by providing accurate instructions and troubleshooting assistance
- Ensure machine output conforms to engineering specifications and quality standards
- Evaluate tooling, bend allowances, and nesting layouts to maximize efficiency and material utilization
- Troubleshoot programming and process issues, and provide continuous improvement feedback
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and production teams to improve part designs for manufacturability
Experience and Skills
- Previous experience with Amada laser and brake press equipment at a high level – safely & efficiently
- Proficiency with Amada programming software (VPSS 3i, Dr. Abe, etc.)
- Strong CAD/CAM knowledge and ability to interpret technical drawings
- Solid understanding of sheet metal properties, tolerances, and bend allowances
- Aptitude to communicate effectively with team members and provide operator support
- Commitment to workplace safety and organizational standards
- Professional, responsible, reliable, and positive attitude
- High productivity and strong attention to detail

Annual Salary:
- $50,000 to $65,000 based on experience.
Location and Schedule:
- On site 40 hours per week at our Vancouver Office
- Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm (TBD)
Compensation
$50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
